We've had a long winter here in Minnesota, and even though the calendar says May it feels like it may not be over yet. Yesterday I shivered in my coat and gloves and groaned at snow flakes that dared to fall. Yet, here is the little River Birch tree we planted last July. And, despite being only months in the ground before the snow fell and with branches no thicker than pretzels, here are its buds. (You have to look close.) Never underestimate the property of endurance.
