The Peal of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John

I'm writing an essay about church bells and so today I talked to the administrator of a church whose bells I've been enjoying for nearly 13 years. The churches' four bells are named for the four gospel writers--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John--and altogether weigh 14,500 pounds. They hang in vertical single file in a tower that is 103 feet high with its base housing the Chapel of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help.

Can you hear any church bells from where you're sitting?

Speaking of essays, Jeremy Huggins has a great post, new today, about writing the kind of essay in which you meander and dwell in it as you write. My favorite kind. I wonder where the bells will lead?
